Will this actually work?

I had a well ranking website on google in the home service sector a few years ago. I probably spent around 8 yrs building up the SEO, backlinks, ect to get this site to rank well, However I let the site go dormant and did not renew my domain name and hosting. It’s probably been sitting for 2 years unclaimed. I also closed down my GMB which was ranked well in the 3 pack on google listings. If I was wanting to repurchase the domain name, hosting, ect. Would the site quickly climb back up the ranks due to how well it was ranking before or would I have to completely start the SEO process over since it’s gone dormant?
