Uncharted territory

I assume I'd find some true SEO demons in here. I'd like to know how many of you truly believe that having a meta-description for Shopify product with over 160 characters is going to be penalized by Google. How true is this? I am not sure. I have pages with meta-descriptions around the 200-220 range and they are the 1st page of the keywords we are optimizing for. Let's here it.
