Strategies for fixing 404s after WooCommerce catalog reduction?
We shrunk our WooCommerce store from a peak of \~3000 product listings to around 1,500 by deleting unprofitable or off-brand items. This cleanup has led to a bunch of 404 errors and broken links—both internal and external. My main questions are: **1 – What tools to use?** I’ve seen plugins like Broken Link Checker but these are onlly for internal links. For external links Google Search Console seems incomplete whereas tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz look great but are cost-prohibitive for us as a small ecommerce business – it seems these tools are marketed mroe towards agenciy/freelancers. **2 – What’s the most cost-effective approach?** So should we just hire an agency or freelancer with access to these tools or is there something we can use in-house to sort these redirects and internal broken links? Any recommendations for a good tool or method to cover both internal and external broken links affordably? **3 – For actually fixing the issues, what’s the recommended workflow?** Our tentative plan is: * Identify internal broken links and update/remove them. * Identify external broken links. * Implement 301 redirects in the .htaccess file When it comes to implementing redirects, do you prefer plugins (like Redirection), code-level solutions, or .htaccess modifications? Quite stuck with this so any advice or experiences with similar situations would be greatly appreciated.5
