Site Transfer Options

I have a few sites I made using a host-provided site builder. The hosting contracts are coming up, and I want to transfer the content. Has anyone had success downloading files and uploading them to a new server? I can get all the files and images, but the formatting is missing. Are there any tools to make this possible without rebuilding the site?
