New Site Outranking Very Popular Site

I have a brand new site that has about 20 posts. Listed in in GSC a few weeks ago. Zero backlinks. Many of the articles aren't even finished being written. But we do rank in top 40 for a few keywords. When I noticed that I was getting impression on a keyword I looked at it a bit further and noticed I rank just above a website that is one of the most popular in the industry. I know the owner of that publication. It has been around for almost 10 years. They have a decent amount of backlinks - a little over 30k. I see the site quite a bit when searching topics in the industry - Agriculture. Quesiton is: How on Earth am I ranking ahead of this site? The volume is about 1k search per month. KD only about 6. Can anyone suggest how, in this case, my brand new site ranking ahead of a page on the same topic?
