Got Rent agreement submission request.

I've been registering rent agreement since year. This time I opted for new tax regime and thought of letting it be, owner is also chill. Living since years at same place. Apparently, this year, there is a drive that police station has circulated a request to all societies to submit rent agreements of all tenants (well, coincidence). Owner forwarded message to me, had a 10 day window. We both was like, let's see... Now, 31st is last date, so second message he got and forwarded to me is... Failure to submit will cause both owner and tenant to report to police station. If so, what's the approach... I'm choosing fcuk around and find out. If this is not new... Let me know what were the outcome, if it's serious, will register, as usual. Please don't come teaching.... I know it's a good practice. Been doing it.
