Urgent help needed

My friend lost his wallet today. He believes somewhere near SGS mall. His phone and wallet were in the same pocket so it’s more plausible he dropped it while taking his phone out. What should he do? Should he file a police complaint regarding this? Need some advice and help if possible. We are traveling this coming Saturday, so any little something we could get will be greatly appreciated.
