Pashan lake info

I (46F) am in Baner for a visit. I have heard good things about Pashan /Baner hills but also some cautionary things. Would like to visit once to take in the view but am not sure how to.. any ideas on where to go from? What to avoid? Best time to go there ? Car needed and if yes, safe spot to park and see the view ? Thank you
