Is it worth buying gold from auction by bank?

Banks and NBFCs auction gold assets of people who default. Are these auctions a good opportunity to buy gold? \- Is the gold they sell pure and true to its value? \- Does the auctioneer provide assurance of gold purity and weight? Would like to know experience of someone who has bought gold in an auction.
