Heavy frosting was observed in regions like Tensa, Kalta, Malda, Koida headquarters, and Kasira, signaling an unusual cold wave. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously issued a yellow warning for the district, highlighting the severity of the cold spell. Mayurbhanj, known for its natural beauty, is also reeling under severe cold conditions. For the past three days, temperatures in the region have remained below three degrees Celsius. Similipal, a popular wildlife and trekking destination, experienced heavy frost, adding to its allure as a winter escape.
