Odisha announces Rs 4,000-Cr plan for Ship-Recycling hub, New ports and hydrogen facility growth!!
Odisha is set to transform its maritime and industrial landscape with ambitious plans for a Rs 4,000-crore ship recycling hub near Paradip Port. The state also aims to establish hydrogen production facilities by 2026 and develop two new ports, strengthening its role in India’s economic growth. Odisha’s ship recycling hub near Paradip Port is expected to attract significant investments, enhancing the state’s maritime capabilities. The Paradip Port Authority will lead the development of a shipbuilding and repair facility, creating opportunities for local industries. Moreover, two new ports are planned in Inchuri (North Odisha) and Bahuda (South Odisha), each designed to handle over 40 million tonnes of cargo, signalling a major push in logistics and trade. The state’s focus extends to hydrogen production, with facilities anticipated to start operations by late 2026. Odisha is also preparing to enhance railway infrastructure for mineral and coal transportation to support its industrial goals. Further, a 250-acre land parcel near Bhubaneswar has been earmarked for an electronic city, aiming to attract investments in data centres and global capability centres (GCCs). These initiatives highlight Odisha’s commitment to sustainable development and economic growth, aligning with national priorities in green energy and infrastructure.
