NE people are the most welcoming I have ever met

My experience in traveling in NE was nothing but wonderful. Lovely people, mindful people, welcoming people. So much so, I would want to retire in NE now. Get a small patch of land, grow some food, go fishing, enjoy the abundance of nature NE has to offer. 1. People offered help because we were limping. HINT: 3000 steps. 2. Little girls were excited to see us, clicked selfie with me and wifey and ran off giggling. 3. Host was very accommodating and gave a very welcoming vibe. 4. Police were strict, but not rude. I realised how policing is actually supposed to be done. 5. People don't hog lanes. 6. Lord Altos/800s. My question is. I read the sentiment, online and through other sources, that NE people are very reserved and generally not welcoming in nature. Which is completely opposite to what I have personally felt. Am I wrong? Was it because I was a tourist? Or it was because my wife can easily pass as someone from NE? I would seriously love to spend our last days in NE. Nothing would make us more happier. But what's the sentiment of locals on this? PS: Requesting only locals to share views. Personal experiences of everyone is welcome.
