Why does the same story sound so different in Local Manipur news vs National News? The national news explicitly states that the arrests were linked to banned militant groups like KYKL. [https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/defence/17-militants-arrested-from-4-manipur-districts/articleshow/118436607.cms](https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/defence/17-militants-arrested-from-4-manipur-districts/articleshow/118436607.cms) However, a local Manipur news article covering the Meira Paibis protest describes them as 'village volunteers.' [https://e-pao.net/GP.asp?src=16..220225.feb25](https://e-pao.net/GP.asp?src=16..220225.feb25) This type of reporting is dangerous as it can spread false information among the local people. 2 3 replies
Why Are Tribals Only Called Assamese When It's Convenient? People keep barking in the comment sections, claiming that everyone who lives in Assam is Assamese. I want to ask these guys: Is our language called Assamese language? No! The Assamese language is only the Kamrupi language, which is now known as the Assamese language today. The Boro language is never called Assamese, the Rabha language is never called Assamese, and the Koch language is never called Assamese either. Now, let’s come to the food topic. We, the tribals, eat pork, silkworms, bats, frogs, water beetles, etc.—things that no... 2 6 replies

Mocking and distorting the history of the people of the Northeast by Bishnupriya migrants from Bengal Background: These Bishnupriya are low-caste migrants from Bengal. They used to live in Cachar but migrated to Manipur when it was overrun by the Kachari and the Dimasas. The Meitei king gave them refuge out of humanity. They were greatly influenced by Meitei culture, language, and the clan system. However, this treacherous community has started distorting our history and claiming themselves as the original "Manipuri." They have even called the Meitei Chinese invaders. The same rhetoric is being spread to the native Tripuri and Ahoms, labeling them as Chinese... 1 24 replies
Dear NE people, don't let others to distort ur history. As u can see this meitei guy is complaining how a Bishnupriya Manipuri is distorting the unique history of meitel by correlating with some Hindu mythology. From now on, who knows how many unique tribes of NE would get it's history distorted by the agenda driven outsiders. Remember, they tried to do it before by claiming that NE tribes are some subcaste of Hindu 'Kshatriya'. They are now writing books for our region. Once those books with falsified information get referenced by the academia then it's pretty much over.... 3 7 replies

Separatism is stupid asf So after the recent pole i can see a huge portion of people in this subreddit wants a separate country. Now this will be long but bear with me First, while racism, discrimination etc are serious issue’s , it's important to remember that it's not representative of the entire country. Many people in mainland India are welcoming and inclusive, and there are ongoing efforts to address and combat these prejudices. Separating from India would isolate the Northeast, cutting off opportunities for cultural exchange, economic growth, and mutual understanding that... 2 16 replies
