Whyy you guy's hate me for not being NE?? Why are you hating me just because I’m not NE? I’ve followed this community for so long, feeling like I was a part of it, like I finally found a place where I belonged. But the moment I joined, I was judged, pushed away for something I have no control over. I love the Northeast and its people from my heart. I never saw a difference between us. But now… it hurts. I did a Reddit post about India, just wanting to share, to connect, but instead, I was... 4 5 replies
Hi friends a question about international racism . I am from Sikkim. I recently went to Thailand with my friend. The locals there thought we were from Korea or China or Japan ( Lol) . And when we told told we were from India, they were shocked. We told them that India has a variety of people. My cousin and her friend stayed in Korea for over a month and they didn’t face racism issues. Now, I know the racism that exist in some parts of India against NE. But while travelling abroad esp in SE Asian... 1 4 replies

We are indians so.. why that much hatee?? I get it—India isn’t perfect. No country is. But amount of hate, especially from our own people, is just too much. Some act like India is the worst place ever, but step outside, and you’ll realize every country has its own problems. And if you leave India, trust me, you’ll experience racism in ways you never expected. Some subreddits are just stupid and funny, but now it’s getting ridiculous. I just saw someone hating on India like it personally ruined their life. Like, seriously? Every place has its flaws,... 3 0 replies
A Mizo guy having a serious, contemplative discussion with a Meitei guy regarding the situation in Northeast India. What do people from the Northeast think about it? The discussion happened on X. I think we should now look beyond our internal conflicts, we must get united to end the fault lines which are being used by our adversaries. Remember guys we have common enemies. And they want to end our identity and culture. And most importantly we should work and engage in activities which create values and enlighten our common mass. 1 0 replies

Should we start using Yumnak as surnames for newborns in our family instead of Singha or Devi in Meitei culture? What are your thoughts on this? To the meitei folks here, I've been reflecting on the ongoing situation in Manipur and recent post on Roy from Arunachal. Ik mostly people from Manipur widely adopt their yumnak or sagei as surnames. I'm personally considering dropping "Singha/Devi" for the upcoming generation to show greater alignment with our pre-Hinduism roots, to better preserve our cultural identity and traditions and to be more representative of the native Meitei heritage. I have 3 doubts as of now - 1. How common is it for families to use yumnak surnames today... 5 4 replies
Book Recommendations about Northeast India (Non-Fiction) Hello, all! I am very interested in learning about Northeast India. I would love books that are very well-written that focus on NE India's history, tribal culture/practices/religions, and/or challenges. Would deeply appreciate any recommendations! 4 0 replies
how difficult would it be for me to transition if i moved to dimapur for my college? just as the title says. i am currently living abroad, i haven't been to nagaland in 10 years, i am a muslim and i CANNOT speak any NE languages. i can just barely understand people talking in assamese and manipuri. my parents want to send me to dimapur for college since it'll be easier for them as my extended family lives there, and i can just stay with family instead of living in a hostel. i don't think it will be that easy for me to adapt living here,... 1 1 replies
