Thoughts! Pt. 2 (again, please don't feel offended)
**This is in refferal and continuation to my post here:** [https://www.reddit.com/r/Northeastindia/comments/1ign1kl/thoughts\_please\_dont\_be\_offended/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Northeastindia/comments/1ign1kl/thoughts_please_dont_be_offended/) *This is specifically reffering to the lack of the NE's political leverage.* I am certain people have already thought of this, but let me just initiate the discussion here again, The NE is in absolutely **desperate** need of a good political leader who can unite the NE. If we look at our history, we have usually tried to get our voice heard in the following ways: * **Insurgency:** starts off with pride, ends up splintering into a million different factions, each simply commiting extortions, crimes, bomb attacks, etc. totally forgetting why the group was even made and making the NE look like a warzone to the media, because frankly, the only media we ever get is when something bad happens. * **Independence movements:** poorly coordinated, poorly envisioned, lackluster, and fails to acknowledge the Indian stubborn pride over lands. (Ironically the nation that fought to be free, took the freedom of many tribes and kindoms, but let's not go into that wormhole). * **Regional parties:** Awww, your 'National Movement for The Liberation of Progressive Peoples' got 2 seats? How adorable. (*I will touch on this topic below*) * **Regional celebrities:** fair enough. I guess. Regional parties! They work, but only when done efficiently! They make the centre listen, they amplify our voices, they make sure our cause is 'out there'. The NE needs a pan-NEern party, not just an 'Assamese' party or 'Naga' party-- *no*. We need an all encompassing, all inclusive, pan-NEern party. Hear me out, what do you have in the NE? Virtually every NEern state has 1-2 LS seats (excluding Assam, which still has only a few seats), as I mentioned, this is no political incentive for ANY party at all. However, combined, the NE has *24 seats!* This is political fodder enough to satisfy the need of any political incentive we'd ever need to bring the central govt. to listen and care about our issues as well. This is made evident anywhere from TDP to TMC, which admittedly have their own problems. Even so, the issue is that, with reality, ideals cannot be reached, but rather, we have to strive for the most ideally practical solution. That is of which is achievable and noble. *(Note: This is where reality strikes, in reality, atleast till now, there has not been a serious attempt at doing the forementioned; either the people in power are too interested with the well being of their own communities only (and will be called traitors to their community if they worked for another's), or simply are providing instant and short-lasting solutions to the greater ills of NEern society, and we feed the abyss of temporary solutions, by voting those who cannot give us the real solutions, back into power.)* *In short, the NE needs a regional party, not a Tribal party, not a Casteist party, nor one that sits on the throne based off of divisions, but by the united common ground of all. This is clearly an extremely idealistic view, however, it needs to be said that every practical idea is the result of ideals being put through the smithing of reality.* What do you think? This seeks to address the issue that the NE is often left neglected despite the fact that the womb of the NE is absolutely **PREGNANT** with oppurtunities just waiting to be seized and progress lies to be made. If we could unite our voices as one, especially on non-political arenas *first* (easier said than done); then the NE voice would be so very resounding, that even the deaf would hear.2
