Travelling to Mumbai with family (3 kids under 10) from U.K.

Hello, I’m travelling to Mumbai in fours days’ time with my family. We’ll be in Mumbai for 5 nights before flying to Kerala, and just wanted some advice from locals. At the airport, can I just get a cab to my hotel (about 30 mins from airport) or do I need to pre book. Thinking of food, when we are out and about during the day, what do people do for food and specifically, what can we do for food so that we avoid getting ill!
