Should we buy dash cams for cars?

I’ve been watching a lot of instances online where people are getting scammed while in an accident (The most recent one being the car reverse-crashing into a stationary car). Others include people suddenly running out on the road, drivers being aggressive and crashing, etc. This makes me wonder if one should invest in a dash cams for cars which don’t have one, to avoid falling for these kind of scams.
