Help us with our "2 states"

my partner (25M) and i (24F) have been in a relationship for 2 years now. my mum knows about us and is not that keen his mum and dad both know his dad is relatively strict and quite stern that he is not going to permit if we got married. he even told my bf to cut ties with them if he proceeds this is a very tough spot emotionally. what shall we do and how shall we convince im a south indian and he is a maharashtrian IMO - both parties are very rigid need some good manipulation / some good idea to tackle both the sides
