Electric buses and rash driving. It's a huge factor for the Kurla Bus accident.
It was not just that the drivers are not accustomed to the "automatic" transmission of electric buses (electric buses don't have traditional transmissions, automatic is a misnomer) but also that electric buses have too much acceleration on demand. Top speed is already limited because that is basics but acceleration needs to be limited too. These drivers don't need this much power on demand, that too with an instant response. I've seen during the introduction of these buses that drivers frequently input rash forces into the pedal because that is the efficient way of driving the diesel buses. Old buses had a 3-4 second lag before power actually began responding. These don't have that, it's instant and unforgiving. If the driver was trying to fully apply the brakes but did the opposite and pressed the accelerator accidentally, his mistake would be further amplified by this instant response and acceleration of electric buses. There would be a very tactile response if it wasn't electric, he would hear the engine, feel the vibration, and very quickly understand what he had done. There needs to be all sorts of rate limiters on these buses and it'll only happen if awareness is raise about it. It's not like [Olectra ](https://olectra.com/electric-bus-x2/)cannot implement these features.1
