My New Year’s Gift to Myself: Triumph Scrambler 400X
Hello fellow riders, I wanted to share my thoughts about my new ride, the Triumph Scrambler 400X, which I gifted myself on 2nd January to kickstart the year on a high note. It’s been an incredible experience so far, and here are my impressions after 700 km, including a 350 km trip. What I Love Cruising and Comfort: The bike cruises effortlessly at 80-90 km/h. You don’t even notice when it hits those speeds. It feels smooth, stable, and easygoing. I haven’t gone beyond 110 km/h yet due to the running-in period, but it’s got more in store for sure. Suspension: It’s outstanding. Even on bouncy highways, the bike feels like a smooth boat gliding through ripples. It absorbs road imperfections so well that you barely notice them. Riding Position: The upright position and spacious layout make it extremely comfortable, whether it’s city riding or highway cruising. Design and Looks: This bike is a stunner. The white color, golden forks, brown seat, and black finish give it a classy, retro vibe. It doesn’t have unnecessary fairings or weird shapes—just simple, timeless motorcycle aesthetics. Everyone who’s seen it has complimented its looks, even people who know nothing about bikes! Value for Money: At ₹3,14,000 on-road, this bike feels like it’s worth much more. The quality, design, and overall experience make me feel proud of my choice. I just like parking the bike and sitting back to enjoy the looks, it's such a thing of beauty and I am proud of what my money got me. What Could Be Better Short Gearing: The 6th gear feels a bit short, and I plan to upgrade to a 15-tooth front sprocket after the first service to make cruising even more relaxed. Tachometer: It’s the worst I’ve seen on a bike. It’s hard to read and takes my eyes off the road long enough to feel unsafe. Honestly, I just avoid looking at it. Right-Side Pull: There’s a slight pull to the right when I leave the handlebar. It’s noticable but does not cause strain. Need to get it checked during first service Brake Noise: The front brake makes a faint sound when pressed, and the rear brake requires quite a bit of travel before engaging. Footpeg Vibrations: The right footpeg has more vibrations than the left, but it’s manageable so far. On the test drive bike it was painful, but it's very manageable and honestly not that noticable here. Maybe after I cross 7k rpm, it may become annoying. Why I Chose This Bike Coming from an FZ25, the Scrambler 400X is a massive upgrade. The FZ felt strained at cruising speeds and made me shift to top gear by 50-60 km/h. With this bike, everything is better—the riding position, suspension, power delivery, and overall experience. It’s effortless and comfortable. Final Thoughts The Triumph Scrambler 400X is a fantastic machine. It looks great, feels great, and delivers incredible value for its price. It’s been such a rewarding experience so far, and I’m excited for what’s next.2
