Guerrilla 450: Loving It, But This One Issue
I finally went for the Guerrilla this Diwali. Was stuck between this and the Speed 400, but the moment I saw the rear end of the Guerrilla at the showroom, I was sold. Love at first sight. It’s my first bike, so I was a bit nervous about handling a 450cc machine. The first 10 days were rough esp in city traffic. The radiator fan kept turning on every few minutes and riding at low speeds felt like a struggle. But I’ve gotten used to it now, and I’m feeling more confident with each ride. Riding Experience: Done 1000 km so far, mostly short rides. Eco mode is smooth and easy for traffic. Performance mode pulls like crazy and always makes me want to go faster. That said, it can be frustrating in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Mileage: Manual claims 26–28 km/l, but I’m getting 18 in Performance mode and 20 in Eco mode. Looks: Rear design is stunning and makes me smile every time, but the front looks pretty generic to me. Accessories: Added bar-end mirrors, engine guard, radiator guard (AM), sump guard (AM), and tyre hugger (AM). Got full-body PPF done for protection. The Issue: There’s this random screeching/knocking noise coming from the engine. It doesn’t happen every day, but when it does, it’s super annoying. Usually happens in the mornings when I start the bike. I let it idle for a few minutes before riding, but the noise still appears sometimes. It lasts for a day or a few days, and the bike’s performance feels a bit sluggish when it’s there. The exhaust note also changes and sounds off—almost irritating to the ears. Took it to the service center, but the technician said the sound is normal. They won’t check the engine till it hits 10k km, apparently. I’ve raised a complaint with RE about this, but I’m just hoping it doesn’t turn into something serious. Anyone else with a Guerrilla facing this issue? Would really appreciate any tips or advice on this. Apart from that engine noise, I’m loving the bike. It’s powerful, fun to ride and I’m learning something new about it (and riding in general) every day. Planning to do more short trips before I start going for longer ones. What’s been your experience with the Guerrilla? Any advice for a newbie?3
