How can this change?
So a close relative of mine is undergoing treatment for a serious disease in one of the district hospitals in Maharashtra. GoI has established exclusive centres in every district hospital to get free monthly medications, tests and consultations for this. So she’s a mid aged woman who used to get treatment in one of the hospitals farther from her place and it was going very good, doctors nurses and everybody was so helpful and supportive. But recently she transferred her treatment to another nearby hospital in a very small town in Vidarbha (district headquarter) where they treat her very inhumanely. They refuse to give medicines on time, ask to come back again and again, never perform any tests and randomly give medicines for serious related conditions without testing. The doctors are never present and even if they are they don’t even see the patient. The pharmacists are very rude and only tone they talk in is shouting tone. Every month is a nightmare for her to go and collect those medicines. She cries every time she is back from the hospital because of the way she’s treated there. What can I do to help her? How can this change? How can we get the staff to value human life over their comfort? Please provide advice and guidance.5
