MacOS is only for laptops (rant)
Am I the only one who feels that Apple optimizes its operating systems only for MacBook laptops? Using a Mac mini with external peripherals constantly feels like something is missing. - External monitors only look truly great if they have an “Apple” 5K resolution. - Using a mouse leaves much to be desired! You’re almost forced to buy a Magic Trackpad for gestures, zooming, scrolling, etc. Scrolling, zooming, and scaling with a mouse and scroll wheel is a nightmare. In Photos, I seriously have to use command +/- to zoom in on images or rely on the tiny slider every time. Don’t even get me started on Safari. - The configuration options for external peripherals are, to put it positively, “meh.” - And the biggest joke is that when I want to use my iPhone as a webcam, it seemingly only works reliably on MacBooks?! Some users have claimed this is because an additional camera needs to be connected to use Continuity Camera smoothly. Every time, I have to connect my iPhone with a cable to establish a connection and only then can I disconnect it and use it wirelessly—with an 80% success rate. Why isn’t there a manual setting for this?!4
