mac can‘t read usb sticks anymore?

hi, I hope that someone can help me because I really have no clue anymore lol: I found 2 usb sticks and when I plug them in my macbook (also tried it with another mac and with a windows pc) one shows an „error“ message that says: „the connected media could not be read by this computer. eject, ignore, initialize.“ and the second usb shows up normal in the finder sidebar, but when I click on the usb stick it says „0 files“, even though there are clearly files on it and when I click on „information“ it also shows that 20 of the 64gb are used. what is this issue, how can I fix it? I really need to get my hands on the data on it.
