Issues with whatis and makewhatis

whenever I run a whatis command I will get the following output before the normal output: makewhatis: /opt/local/man: Not a directory makewhatis: /Library/TeX/texbin/man: Not a directory how can I fix this? I guess it has something to do with symlinks, but I have no idea the same issue also occurs when running apropos
