Is it possible to downgrade from Sequoia to Monterey ?

Haven't upgraded yet but am curious if I don't like it, can I revert back to what the MacBook originally had? Not worried about losing what is on the HD I was going to make a time machine back up with an external but I read that you would still be reverted to sequoia even if doing a reset? Is that true? Will I have no way to downgrade back? Thanks
