Homeserver using Macbook M2.

Guys, I have a MacBook that has a broken screen, so I decided that instead of spending an arm on a screen replacement I thought, turning him into a home server would be nice. How can I do that? Can I use MacOS, or is it better to install some Linux system, somehow, to make it better? My goal is to host my website, host an online game project that I'll build, and soon, I'll write my own webserver in C. So I think that installing Linux would be a must. Anyway, any insights are welcome. I'm here for any advice!
