Desktop Functions unable to use

So what I'm facing basically is I am not able to use my desktop. I still have the folder called "desktop", but whatever files I store inside does not shows on my actual desktop. There's nothing happening when I click the desktop with double finger (which I believe ought to show me options like stack files or something like that) or any other way. I checked my system setting and "show items on desktop" is enabled. I also tried to restart the computer, but it doesn't work. I believe this problem occurs somewhat after I install the MacOS Sequoia update. Please help out!
