Is it possible to allow Thunderbird on MacOS to check for new messages while the screen is locked, or at least immediately upon unlock?

Hi r/mac, This question is one I have not been able to answer, either with google-fu or interrogating AI (what a mess that still is for nuanced technical questions!). I just want to be able to unlock the screen and immediately see new messages, just like in the native MacOS Mail app. It definitely is not happening now; I either have to click the check button manually or wait for the 1-minute interval that it normally checks at. Just a little routine annoyance that I would love to resolve; much love to anyone who can help!
