Years-Long Ignored Safari Bug (replicated on multiple versions & MacBooks)
I'm experiencing a consistent bug in Safari when I try to open a new window in full screen using the default keyboard shortcut. For my use case and workflow, this is a daily inconvenience and annoyance. **If anyone is open to following these steps to experience the issue for themselves, please do!** Takes less than a minute. Make sure Safari is closed before you begin. 1. Open up Safari 2. Make the window fullscreen (either by clicking the green dot in the upper left-hand corner or using the keyboard shortcut Fn+F) 3. Use the keyboard shortcut for opening a new window (Option+Command+N). **\*\*Nothing happens!\*\*** 4. Now move your cursor over to “File” on the menu bar in Safari 5. Click “File” (its dropdown menu will display) 6. Click “File” again (its dropdown menu will collapse) 7. Again hit the keyboard shortcut for opening a new window (Option+Command+N). **\*\*\*The keyboard shortcut now works, and continues to work going forward until you close Safari.\*\*\*** I’ve tried this on multiple MacBook Pros running multiple version of Safari and MacOS. It’s inconceivable that I’m the only one experiencing this bug. I’m amazed there don’t seem to be widespread complaints about it and that Apple has not fixed this bug.2
