Weird file sorting on Mac
I was organizing some of my files on Mac, and noticed something weird with how files are sorted. Turns out, files without visible extensions are sorted correctly in a hierarchical order. But if the extensions are visible, the sorting gets messed up. https://preview.redd.it/w8x9ok6eniie1.png?width=672&format=png&auto=webp&s=ecd78444fd9a3ed888d30557480ab1c002094e03 Basically, when the extension is shown, macOS treats it as part of the file name. So, if you’re trying to organize files numerically, the file that’s supposed to be at the top ends up at the bottom. It seems like there’s no way to get proper numerical order when extensions are visible. Anyone else run into this? Found a fix for it?5
