Normal Network behaviour during setup/OSRecovery
I just got a new MacBook Pro M3 Pro and ran into some weird issues during setup. While setting up for the first time, I got a “network connection” error (screenshot 1). Thinking it was my WiFi, I retried, entered my password, and moved on. However, after setup, I couldn’t check for macOS updates or access the App Store—it kept saying I wasn’t connected to the internet. Strangely, Safari worked fine with full-speed internet. Thinking it might be an OS issue, I reset the Mac via Settings and set it up again—same initial error, same App Store/Software Update issue. After letting it sit for 30 minutes, things started working. I upgraded to macOS 15, but even after another reset, the same sequence of issues happened. I then decided to do a full recovery reset, erasing the main volume and reinstalling macOS via internet recovery. But during installation, I kept getting errors in the installer log (screenshot 2). I tried different networks—home WiFi, iPhone hotspot, even Ethernet via a USB-C hub—but the same thing happened.. The odd part? Everything eventually works after retrying, but this doesn’t feel normal. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I get it replaced?3
