New MacBook no iCloud - iPhone connection?

Work have just given me a new MacBook Air to use. Coming from an old thinkpad I have been really excited to get something nicer, and to have all my Apple stuff work together. However, I don’t think I can realise the dream of everything working together as work do not allow iCloud on the machine (it will just error out if you try to sign in to iCloud). Anyway I can still get my phone and MacBook to work together, for example?
