Migration/User Folder Issue

Howdy After 10 years I've upgraded to a new Macbook Pro. Problem is on my Macbook Air my home user is set as my dad's name. I've never been able to change this but I don't want to migrate this onto my new Macbook Pro. I also don't want to change this name on the Macbook Air either before migrating as I'm giving it to my dad anyway. What is the best way to migrate everything from MBA but have a different home user name on my MBP? Would I transfer everything to a new user folder with my name on my MBA, set as admin THEN migrate to MBP? I heard it's best not to mess around with renaming home users.
