MacOS Ram usage

Recently I decided that I want to try my first ever MacBook but the decision about the ram drives me crazy. I am a long time windows user and since about two years an iPhone owner. If I would buy a windows laptop I would opt for a 32gb ram model since my desktop usage is about 20gb in general. But since I experienced the difference between iOS and android regarding way less ram use on apple devices I don’t know what to buy. I am debating between the MacBook Air 15“ M3 with 16gb ram and the MacBook Air 13“ M3 with 24gb of ram. I would love the bigger screen but can’t afford the price of 15“ and the price of 24gb of ram. I am getting crazy about this decision and thought about just getting a win device like before even though it’s not really what I want. If it is helpful I am mainly using Lightroom and Photoshop while having some web tabs open. I would love your help and I am thankful in advance. Edit: I was able to test a friends MacBook Air M1 with 8gb of RAM. Even though I could see that the RAM usage got in the „yellow area“ it was not as huge of a bottleneck as I thought. I am pretty sure now that 16gb should be fine. Also I know that the 16“ MacBook Pro would be way better but for the price I can only dream of getting it some day.
