Incredibly Frustrating Display Issue in macOS Sequoia 15.3
Hey all, I'm running into possibly the weirdest, most frustrating bug I've ever encountered with a computer, let alone a MacBook. First, a quick rundown of my setup: * Laptop: MacBook Pro M3 Pro 36GB, running Sequoia 15.3 * Display: Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 * I also recently started using a CalDigit TS4 dock to plug in other peripherals The display is directly connected to my MacBook via the HDMI port. Up until literally this morning, everything worked just fine. No issues whatsoever. Last night, I logged out of the MacBook, leaving everything plugged in, which is not typically what I do - I like to just unplug everything if I'm not using it with the laptop, since I also use the dock and monitor with a PC for gaming. This morning, when I went to log into my MacBook, I noticed something very strange: the monitor wasn't displaying anything. It seemed to connect as normal, but no display. Even weirder, it *would* display something at the login screen; once I logged in, though, the display would basically freeze, couldn't be used at all, and wouldn't show up in the Display settings menu. When I say I've tried everything I mean I've tried *everything* that even remotely makes sense: * Detect Displays literally does nothing with the monitor plugged in. * Power cycling the monitor did nothing. * A different cable/port on the monitor did nothing - still doesn't display anything. I think I can safely rule out a bad port on the MacBook, since it still seems to connect and can (briefly) display when logged out. * Fully restarting my MacBook did nothing - same issues persist. I'm genuinely at my wit's end here - I don't even understand what the issue is at this point. Anyone else see anything like this, or at the very least have some pointers for what I can do to fix it?4
