How do I change my mac address?

My Laptop is an intel macbook air running sonoma 14.7. I run the command "openssl rand -hex 6 | sed 's/\(..\)/\1:/g; s/S//' I xargs sudo ifconfig ene ether" however I get the reply "ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): Can't assign requested address" I have turned my wifi off, I have tried en1 although the interface name is en0, nothing seems to work
