Going back from 15.2 to 15.1 on M4 Mac mini?
Hey everyone, got my first Mac for Christmas and it shipped with 15.1. Everything worked fine but when I updated to 15.2 it had that screen mirroring always on bug that some people already described here. Therefore I wanted to go back to 15.1 and wait for the bug to be fixed until I update. So I’ve tried creating a bootable usb with terminal for 15.1 which gave me the “Failed to extract AssetData/boot/Firmware/Manifests/InstallerBoot/* from update bundle The bless of the installer disk failed.” error message. After quick google search I discovered that this seems to be a M4 specific problem so I’ve driven 4 hrs to visit my sister who owns a M2 MacBook and created the 15.1 usb using her system which completed successfully. When I was home again I formatted my drive and tried installing 15.1 from the usb. It then showed an error saying that the version on the usb isn’t compatible with my Mac. This obviously seemed odd because it was shipped with 15.1 so it needs to be compatible. I then removed the usb and let the mini download and install the os on its own. It installed 15.2 again where the screen mirroring issue is present. I’ve also tried updating to the 15.3 (tried both: public and dev) because somebody said 15.3 fixed the issue for them - for me it didn’t. So is there any way to go back to 15.1 (or 15.1.1) or am I just stuck with this bug until a release eventually fixes it? Thanks in advance!3
