Finder "Sort By" constantly reverting to "Name" in same session.

I'm on Sequoia 15.3. Every time I open a new Finder window the sort by defaults back to "Name", regardless of how many times I switch it to "Date Created" in the same session. I am in list view, which is the view I prefer and have been using forever and this has never been an issue before now. Any fixes for this?
