External drive unmounting under heavy copies (OWC enclosure, Sabrient Rocket 2TB)

I just got a new M4 Mac Mini, and connected a new OCW Express 1M2 USB 4.0 enclosure via a short USB-C that came with the enclosure, with a SABRENT 2TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 inside. I've used this SSD a bit before, and running Disk Utility/First Aid it seems fine. But today, I'm setting up the new computer and installing ~100GB of data from Ableton Live's installer and the drive keeps disconnecting. The disk is formatted as an APFS volume. It is not encrypted and case-sensitivity is off. The enclosure feels warm like a laptop, but not too hot. The room is 70F and the enclosure has large fins.
