crochet/knitting as a hobby…

I'm fascinated by all these crochet toys/pillows/blankets I see online. I want to study it as a hobby. Is there anyone who is already into crocheting or knitting? Can you help me out with the basics like where you get your materials in Kochi, how you study, etc?
