Why doesn't Kochi corporation dress up the streets for Christmas and New Years?

Ten years ago, Kochi was a beautiful sight where all the famous routes like MG road, Park avenue (Subash Park), Pnagar lit up for Christmas and New Years. Now it's dim, it's time to shed some light on this issue. I mean, thank goodness Broadway market is still keeping the celebration mood alive,other than a few churches here and there.Honestly, this is also something that can be seen as as boost for tourism. Places like Trivandrum are doing a much more fantastic job, word on the street is that Fort Kochi is quite bleak too.
