Why does the Jan Shatabdi (12081) stop at Kalamassery around 9:30 AM?

I've noticed that the Jan Shatabdi Express (12081) from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram often stops at Kalamassery around 9:30 AM, even though it's not an official stop. Most of the time, people get down as well. Does anyone know the reason for this? Is it a scheduled technical halt or just an operational stop? Would love to hear from anyone familiar with this!
