The phantom menace of mosquitos
Funny thing is that before I was going to rant about mosquitoes here, I saw XX battle royale with mosquitoes on this sub. It all became clear to me lol. I am third time traveler in India from Taiwan. I have experienced different breeds of mosquitoes all over the world. From the mosquitoes that comes out in the evening that stings you once in a while in my hometown to the giant monsters that swarm to your face in nordic forest. Never in my life have I experienced the sneaky bastard that you have here. They are just everywhere and unstoppable. I am currently staying in a okey-ish hotel with AC, but those fuckers still kept me awake the whole evening. I thought I killed them all but they just kept coming like a siege. I cannot imagine how citizen here with lower living standards can cope with situations like this. I feel sorry for them. Still, I love Kochi and I think it’s the best city out of 10+ cities I have ever been to in India. People here are nicer, amicable and less intense to foreigners compared to the north (it’s very subjective). The city has a nice and calm vibe. I can picture myself staying here for longer term. But the mosquitos might be a dealbreaker to some extent.4
