Annoyed by a kid at the Metro

I was travelling via the metro today and I’m a regular commuter. A family, both parents and two kids entered. Their son, around 3 years came and sat next to me. He was really annoying and kept asking questions loudly, which I let go cuz it’s a kid. But then the kid went ahead and sneezed on me. Me being a clean-freak was totally annoyed by this. Next this kid stands up and starts making spitting noises and splatters spit all over. I know it’s the responsibility of the parents to do something but I give the kid an angry look to show that I’m annoyed. The dad saw this and asked the kid to stop, only because of how annoyed I looked. But I’m pretty sure he was not a fan of my reaction either. I expected the parents to at the least apologise to me for this kid’s annoying behaviour. But they do nothing and act like it’s all cute and I am also expected to put up with this. Also, what would have been an appropriate way to have handled this situation?
