Update- A Northie who wants to settle permanently in Kochi

UPDATE- Regarding the earlier post and recent visit to Kochi. Buying houses and Everything I saw in Kochi. Earlier post- [https://www.reddit.com/r/Kerala/comments/1d04ctf/a\_northie\_who\_wants\_to\_settle\_permanently\_in/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_butto](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kerala/comments/1d04ctf/a_northie_who_wants_to_settle_permanently_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_butto) I visited kochi and instead of rented apartment I just took a hotel near station. Here is my experience with Keralites. 1- I found the area very clean and enjoyed the rains and atmosphere. 2- The people I met were extremely friendly. The people at restaurants, metro and even on food stalls were very good (atleast to me). Do not know about others. I believe that we should pay respect if we need to earn respect. The most important part is that people are humble and follow manners (even when drunk). The pessengers in metro were not invovled with phones and were actually talking to each other (stark contrast from delhi metro). 3- Most of the property dealers I met were very very honest. Interestingly I saw around 23 houses in 20 days and every dealer quoted the same price. I liked most of the houses but my dealer suggested a gated community. 4- I saw houses in Pukkattupady, Pazanganad and near Kakkanad. All were good. 5- The house i choose was surrounded by wetlands. There was some confusion so I have to back off from the deal. 6- I will be going again to meet the agents in Jan. 7- I made many amazing friends and visited many temples. People are generally honest and I did not face any difficulty with language. Do not know about others. I learnt few words of malyalam language and was happy to see that everybody responded so well to my queries. 8- I met a three wheeler person, who sang a old malyali love song. Was amazed to see how happy he was with his life. 9- My experience with Kerala and Keralites is 11 out of 10 (can be 12 as well). My opinion which was getting baised by Malyali friends and others has completely changed. It may be possible that I only saw the good side, but whatever I saw is far better then other prominent cities in India and Abroad. 10-I am planning to settle there. I am afraid of floods but I beleive that everyone is supposed to die someday. One way or the other. To be on the safer side, do suggest some flood free zones in areas near Pukkatupady or any other area near Kochi. My love to Keralites and Kerala.
