Need Advice on Biopsy & PET Scan Costs

Hi folks, I’m seeking advice regarding biopsy and PET scan test costs, and I’d appreciate insights from doctors or anyone who has gone through a similar experience. My dad (68) had HoLEP surgery in 2021 to remove excess prostate tissue. His PSA was 20 post-surgery, but the doctor didn’t suggest anything further. Recently, his PSA shot up to 708 (normal is below 5.5 for his age). The doctor has now recommended a biopsy and PET scan to check for malignancy. The cost is Rs 25,000 each (for biopsy & PET scan) - ₹50,000 total. Insurance doesn’t cover it since it’s diagnostic. Is this cost reasonable? Can we get it done for less somewhere else in Kerala (we’re in Aluva). Would really appreciate your thoughts or experiences. Thanks!
