Does White Cement Coating on the Rooftop Help Reduce Room Heat?

I live on the top floor of my house and have an AC installed, but every time I use it, I end up with a dry throat. I even tried using a humidifier, but it hasn’t helped. Has anyone tried applying a white cement coating on the rooftop? Does it effectively reduce room heat? Any other suggestions?
