Asking Kerala, Did that joke really warrant arrest, public unrest and a discussion in the parliament?

At the moment, My socials are full of influencers and meme pages trashing both those fellows for their "Joke" on a Comedy show. Everyday seems like it's getting worse for those fellows. Celebrities seem like they've joined the bandwagon for their own publicity and personal interests. Only a week prior to that, one of the other "judges" passed a 'Oh Kerala, 100% literacy rate, sir!' joke, which again was a really poor joke. Now, Everywhere I look, people are calling for the heads of these two guys and celebrities, be it influencers, ministers, TV anchors like Arnab Goswami or that ancient Shaktiman actor from the 90s. REALLY???!! Is India this silly, that a dumb joke from a dumb comedy show warrants such public unrest. I, for one, think that this issue is not only Super overblown, but was totally unnecessary, because it's just a dumb joke thrown by a dumb guy. I don't even think both those guys should've apologized. Am I the only one thinking this way? Just asking Kerala, to know if people here think the same way like I do or am I the only one.
