South African family moving to Kerala

Hi everyone. My family is planning on moving from South Africa to Kerala in a couple of months. My dad is a Malayalee but my stepmom is Xhosa and my siblings and I are all a mix of the two. We've been to Kerala before on a couple of short stays so we're not completely unfamiliar with the place. We had a good time on our previous stays but we are planning on settling down in my grandparents old house in Aluva. It's myself, my younger brother who is in his early 20s, my dad, my stepmom and my little sister who is turning 10. What should we know to have an easier time assimilating into Kerala and what are the positives and negatives you think we could expect?
